Broadband project in Ostfold

Broadband for everyone in Ostfold is a collaborative project where the county council has asked for support in applying, co-ordinating and executing a larger expansion project with several public companies within a fixed financial framework and in a short space of time.

Ostfold Research conducted a successful application process for Ostfold County Council directed towards HØYKOM during the summer of 2007, with 14 local authorities and the County Council as participants. The goal was to establish and fund a project providing access to broadband for very household in Ostfold currently without it.

The project has been through a round of tenders and chosen a supplier, and now aims to supply broadband to every resident and business in Ostfold who want it. This phase lasts until January 2009.

Ostfold Research's role is in documenting experience and results from the project while offering administrative competence. The project's own website which can be found on the County Council's website gives a good description of its practical aspects.
