Bunn til Munn - From sea bed to table

Quality from sea bed to table - solution development for a network of companies in the value chain for line fished whitefish.

The main aim of the project is to support the growth of environmental and resource efficiency in the fisheries sector and to improve access to high quality "clean Norwegian food." This will be achieved by increasing the catch and sale of line fished whitefish based on selective and resource efficient fishing methods, and by the quality grading being maintained throughout the value chain.

The most important research challenges are:
  1. Development of new equipment for line fishing based on a new snap-shot system/equipment for the gentle handling of fish on board and when bringing the fish ashore.
  2. Analysis and documentation of environmental and resource efficiency of line fished fish.
  3. Development of traceability and documentation systems.
  4. Development of optimal packaging and distribution solutions.
  5. Development of new and more efficient processing and packing equipment for small scale production.
  6. Development of a total system to ensure quality throughout the value chain.
Bunn til Munn (From sea bed to table) is a user-managed innovation arena project, financed by The Research Council of Norway. The instigator of the project is Mustad Longline. Domstein AS is the project partner. In addition to the research department at Ostfold Research and Norconserv, a supplier of tracing solutions: Trace Tracker, is taking part in the project.
