Business Development in the Creative Industries
Business Development in the Creative Industries
In recent years, the creative industries have been put on the agenda - both nationally and internationally - because research shows that this industry is among the fastest growing, and is expected to have a significant commercial importance and potential for growth. The concept of experience based industries is relatively new, and includes businesses and organisations within the cultural and creative industries, as well as the travel industry. This is a broad spectrum, from the newspaper and publishing industries to the performing arts.
In Ostfold measures to stimulate growth in the travel and culturally based industries are now in place.
Developmental challenges for the creative industries relate, among other things, to approaches where products and services must, in one way or another, be tailored to varying user preferences and identity profiles, and where the aspects of communication and commercialisation are growing stronger. The extent to which one succeeds with these processes is crucial in relation to employment and profitability, and the attraction of the local and regional area. Knowledge and experience in this field is a prerequisite for innovation and growth.
Thus our R&D areas focus on knowledge within business development in creative industries and tourism, and in particular on:
- Industry, business and activity analyses
- Evaluation of innovation and entrepeneurship
- Evaluation of value chain and business models
- Developing methods and tools to strength industrial development and innovation processes
The research is carried out in close co-operation with others working in national and regional development, including other research bodies, both within and outside Norway.
