The research is focused on functional, environmental and energy efficient production and the use of products, services and technology. Functional characteristics of these are documented, based on life cycle assessments and key figures. This information and knowledge is then used as a basis for devising new solutions for product and system improvements throughout the value chain.

- Environment and energy documentation of the lifetime qualities of buildings
- Documenting the environmental and energy consequences different materials may have for the lifetime quality of buildings
- Development of key figures for energy efficiency in construction
- Models for environmental management in the service sector
- Assisting the business community in the implementation of national and international regulations related to chemicals (REACH), construction, energy consumption and the ISO 14000-series, including environmental declarations (EPD)
