Steinar has an M.Sc in machine engineering from Oslo University College, as well as a degree in Industrial Design from the Oslo National Academy of Arts. He is currently working on two master’s degrees: Master of Management at the Norwegian School of Management (BI) and Master of Innovation Management under the direction of the University of Karlstad. He has long experience in innovation processes at production and company level, in networks and at regional level.
He has ten years of experience in creating and managing his own consultancy business working in Industrial Design and Product Development. He has also been involved in the development of the design profession and environment, partly as the editor and chairman of the board of the professional journal “Norske Industridesignere” (“Norwegian Industrial Designers”) and three years as jury chairman for the award “Merket for God Norsk Design” (“The Mark of Good Norwegian Design”).
In addition to this, he has ten years' working experience in the business sector as a development manager in the production industry, as well as packaging development and production, and has long international experience in network based innovation processes in these companies.
He has teaching experience from, amongst others, the Institute for Industrial Design with responsibility for technological subjects, as well as five years at BI teaching Product and Market Managing and Enterprise Development.
