Mie has been employed at Ostfold Research since 1990. She has taken part in the development of Environmental Protection Research, working on projects from technical environment analyses in businesses to evaluations of environmental and resource considerations of products in a life cycle perspective. She was institute manager for four years, and was the acting managing director for a period in 2003.
Today, she works mainly on projects connected to food products, packaging, buildings and materials in a life cycle perspective. She is concerned about contributing to the environmental optimisation of the management, processing, distribution and use of resources, while also maximising the financial return.
Mie graduated as an engineer from Ostfold University College, and has later taken various courses in the field of environmental and resource efficiency.
Before she started at Ostfold Research, she worked for a period as a teacher, for a time in the process industry and also spent some time working in finance.
In her spare time she is often to be seen in the countryside with her dog.
